I've worked in marketing for 15 years. And spent 4 years at University getting my honours degree in marketing.
A few years ago I started specialising in Google Ads, and I haven't looked back since.
My Background
Before I worked as a Google Ads manager I was a marketing manager at Westpac in Sydney, where I marketed the bank's mobile apps.
The bank knew if customers used their apps they were less likely to switch banks. So the goal was to get more customers using the apps, and make them aware of new app features as they launched.
Before Westpac I worked at Commonwealth Bank. In my first year I increased sales by 65% for the product I worked on.
I worked closely with one of the banks partners – McAfee Internet Security. I ran digital campaigns to promote McAfee products to the banks customers.
I also worked for St.George Bank. I worked in the Brand team with a budget of $4 million per year. I worked on ads for TV, press, online and outdoor media.
I also worked on retail marketing where I managed a $1.2 million budget and managed campaigns that appeared in the banks branches.
Prior to that I worked for GE Money in London. GE provided branded credit card programs for various retail brands. I worked with these brands on marketing campaigns where the goal was to get cardholders to spend more on their cards through special offers, promotions etc.
I also worked for Optus in Australia. I worked with their lead agency M&C Saatchi to deliver marketing campaigns that appeared in Optus stores and partners' stores.
What about when I'm not at work?
I'm from Timaru, just 5 minutes from the beach and an hour from Lake Tekapo and the Southern Alps.
It was a while ago now, but I went to the University of Otago, where I got my honours degree in Marketing.
And if I’m not working I’ll probably be out on my mountain bike, or planning my next riding trip to Queenstown or Rotorua.
